Indian women drew 2-2 against Japan in the fourth womens Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Singapore on Saturday.Both the teams were slow to move off the blocks as the Indian women pressed hard to create opportunities in the first half of the match.Japan too had their chances with a penalty corner in the very first minute, but the Indian defence was up to the task to deny them a lead.At halftime, India and Japan were locked in a stalemate with both the teams unable to breach the others defence.Indian opened the scoring in the third quarter when Deepika scored from open play to give them the lead.Indias second goal came in the 42nd minute when Deep Grace Ekka successfully converted a penalty corner. Japan retaliated in the final quarter of the match, scoring two goals in quick succession.Miki Kozukas goal in the 47th minute was followed by Yukari Manos equaliser in the 50th minute.Japan earned three penalty corners in the last five minutes of the match but the Indian defence stood tall to thwart any danger.India will play their next match against Korea on Sunday.
