Christian Horner says Max Verstappen demonstrated he is a team player at the German Grand Prix by not holding up Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo at a crucial point of the race.Verstappen rounded off a double podium for Red Bull at Hockenheim, finishing third behind Ricciardo. The teenager had beaten Ricciardo into Turn 1 but Red Bull then split its drivers strategies in a bid to stay ahead of Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg.Ahead of their final stops and with Rosberg set to serve a five-second penalty, Verstappen allowed Ricciardo, on the faster, super-soft tyre, to pass him without a fight. That move earned team boss Horners praise. He has demonstrated beyond any doubt that he is a team player, Horner said. The way the two drivers operated, they both had great starts, Max on the outside; Daniel gave him just enough room to work with, which is what I asked for in the briefing [on Sunday morning], and then they ran different strategies. We fitted the super-soft, the new tyre, on to Max at the first stop to try cover Rosberg. And took a different route with Daniel fitting the soft tyre. And then after Rosberg had picked up his penalty, the objective was very much to insure that we got both the drivers ahead, so whilst Daniel was on the faster tyre and closing very quickly on Max, we asked that he release him quickly rather than lose time fighting each other to insure that both of them were able to get ahead of Rosberg with his five-second penalty.Max immediately did that efficiently, and [the double podium] is a result of great team work between the whole team including the two race drivers.Rosbergs penalty was a controversial one, coming after he had lunged in deep on the inside of Verstappen earlier in the race, forcing the teenager to take evasive action and drive off the road. Horner thinks Rosberg would have escaped a penalty if he had shown more of an attempt to slow his car down.I think you can argue its a racing incident but if hed locked up all four wheels there would have been a puff of tyre smoke -- maybe then he would have got away with it. The problem was it looked like he stopped and then kept going, as if he was off to Cologne.Thats probably what caught the attention of the stewards but thats down to them, not us. LINCOLN, Neb. -- Die-hard Nebraska football fans who fill Memorial Stadium in Lincoln to capacity at every home game will soon be watching replays, ads and tunnel walks on new high-definition screens. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents unanimously approved a $6.25 million plan put forward by Husker Athletics to replace the stadiums 10-year-old screens, the Lincoln Journal Star reported (http://bit.ly/2g6mKhZ ) Friday.Funds to pay for replacing the screens will come entirely from athletic department revenues, not state tax dollars, NU President Hank Bounds said.Replacement parts for the current screens are no longer available, and each is at risk of failure, he said.Signs of failure have been appearing to fans this season, Bounds said. We believe our fans deserve and expect a high quality experience in this historic venue. The high-definition screens will replace each of the existing screens in the stadium, including a giant, 117-foot by 33-foot screen towering over north end of the stadium, four smaller screens located in the corners of the stadium, and ribbon boards stretching across the east and west stadium decks.ddddddddddddBounds said the video screens are an important asset to Husker Athletics marketing partner, IMG College, and are critical to supporting sponsor revenue. In fact, the video boards easily pay for themselves as a result of the licensing revenue generated by UNLs agreement with IMG College, he said. The athletic department estimates the new video boards will last 10 years.---Information from: Lincoln Journal Star, http://www.journalstar.com ' ' '
