Former Detroit Lions linebacker?Stephen Tulloch?has reached an agreement on a contract with the?Philadelphia Eagles.Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed the deal on Monday. The deal is for one year and worth up to $3 million, with $1.75 million fully guaranteed, a source confirmed to ESPNs Adam Caplan. The Eagles have been looking to bolster their linebacker depth, a need that became all the more pressing when rookie Joe Walker tore his left ACL on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Tulloch, they add a veteran presence who is familiar with the system, having played for Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz both in Tennessee and Detroit. If he doesnt win a starting spot, Tulloch at the very least provides a solid backup option at middle linebacker behind Jordan Hicks, who posted 50 tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 2015 before suffering a season-ending pec injury against the Cowboys last November.Tulloch, 31, was released by the Lions on July 5 after five seasons with the team. He had been the starting middle linebacker since arriving in Detroit in 2011 after starting his career with the Tennessee Titans. The Lions told Tulloch in February that he no longer was in the teams plans, but he wasnt officially released until four months later.Tulloch had offseason ankle surgery and didnt pass a physical exam until the day he was released.Tulloch struggled at points during the 2015 season; in fact, for the first time in his Lions career, he was taken off the field in certain situations. He still led Detroit in tackles with 107 and was a primary player on rushing downs. He was due $7.3 million in 2016, the final year of his contract. Releasing him saved the Lions about $6 million in cap space.Tulloch missed the first significant time in his career in 2014 after tearing his left ACL while celebrating a sack of Aaron Rodgers in Week 3.ESPNs Adam Schefter, Tim McManus and Michael Rothstein contributed to this report.
