RIO DE JANEIRO -- Adam Peaty and James Guy have put the USA and Australia on notice that the British swimming team is ready to take them on at Tokyo 2020.After helping Team GB to its best performance at a Games since 1908, the pair believe they can do better than their combined haul of a gold and three silvers, break more records and reach new heights.Britain finished a massive 27 podium places behind leaders USA in the swimming medal table but the retirement of Michael Phelps must be of some encouragement to the standout teams rivals.Australia, disappointed with its teams performance, was only four ahead of Team GBs total of six medals -- made up of one gold and five silvers -- and represents a more realistic target.Guy, who won relay silvers in the mens 4x100 metre medley and 4x200m freestyle, said: USA are obviously the main ones [rivals] but even Texas is three times bigger than the UK [in area not population].In the past few years we have been a bit off but we have been getting stronger and stronger since 2012, and we are young team coming through.We can go to Tokyo and dominate. Why cant we? Were still in our late teens, early 20s and hopefully in Tokyo we will be the team to beat.Peaty has certainly looked primed to add to his gold in the 100m breaststroke and 4x100m relay silver. The 21-year-old was also confident of setting new world records after twice breaking the 100m breaststroke mark he held going into the Games.We are not scared of anyone and thats what we take into our swims, he said.
