Toro Rosso started work on its 2017 car in September 2015, several months before the regulations were finalised earlier this year.Significant regulation changes will see a new-look Formula One next year as the rule book permits a wider car with re-profiled wings and wider tyres. The regulations were agreed in February this year after several meetings among team bosses but were not finalised by the FIA until the end of April.Nevertheless, Toro Rosso started work on the basic concepts of its 2017 car a couple of months before the 2015 season had finished. We tentatively started the 2017 project in September 2015, so its been 14 months so far, technical director James Key said. Back then, the chassis regulations hadnt been finalised but we thought that with any change of this nature, the sooner you start, the better.Basically, we had an outline set of regulations, which in the end underwent subtle changes before being finalised. It wasnt a massive change but in the end, the sport went with a slightly less aggressive set of regulations, which were agreed on around March-April time this year. That meant no one could steal a massive march on it because the regulations were still under review at that point. We knew the tyres would be wider and we had dimensions then of what we were going to work to. These also got refined, but not to a huge degree. We started work conceptually on this around September 2015, really just to see what it meant and then as the regs evolved, we changed our plans accordingly. By the time the car hits the track, it will have been a 17-month project.Key said the 2017 regulations represent the biggest change to the rule book in his F1 career.Yes, its a massive change. Honestly, from a bodywork and suspension and tyre point of view, this is the biggest one that Ive personally experienced in almost 19 years in F1. From a chassis point of view, its the biggest change of the past two decades, even bigger than 2009 and certainly bigger than 2014. These are exciting times!Basically, there are two processes going on. Firstly, youve got the enormous amount of research you have to do to try and understand what makes a car with these new regulations tick, without any experience of them in reality, because for a long time, we can only operate in the virtual world. That process comes to an end in January. Secondly you hit the track for winter testing, after which you go and do a season with all this work that for a long time existed in your virtual world.Key said the team is currently manufacturing the first of its 2017-spec chassis, with the rest of the components to follow as the deadline of February testing nears. We are currently manufacturing the bigger parts of the 2017 car. The chassis are being made and they are on schedule. Its still early days. Were not up to quantities yet but the first one is well and truly underway. The second one is probably started at this stage. The gearbox is also underway as are other components, both those made in-house and those from outside suppliers. Its certainly going ahead full-on at the moment. Were doing R&D work on impact structures as well and that will be well in time for winter testing. From a development side, thats also flat-out, as normal.Weve got a busy winter schedule ahead of us. With these new regs, we are paying particular attention to the loads on the car, which will be much higher because the cornering speeds will be that much faster. We therefore need to make sure that structurally, weve missed nothing. Of course, you always want to make sure thats the case, but we havent got any experience of these cars yet so we need to double-check that we are as robust structurally as we believe we should be in theory. So theres a busy winter test programme. We are, in the meantime, sitting down and discussing many of the early season developments that were planning. Theyve been underway for some time too and were looking at all sorts of possibilities for early season development so its all go. Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus Jersey . BATON ROUGE, La. -- Trips to Auburn havent been kind to LSU in recent years. If that is to change, coach Les Miles 18th-ranked squad will need poised performances from a banged-up offensive line and a recently promoted quarterback making his first road start in the Southeastern Conference.Auburn has already been beaten at home twice this season by Clemson and Texas A&M. In fact, six straight SEC teams have won in Jordan-Hare Stadium. But LSU has dropped six of eight at Auburn, and LSUs offense doesnt exactly look like a juggernaut as it prepares to meet an Auburn defense run by former LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.Quarterback Danny Etling has made only one start for LSU. That was at home this past Saturday, when he completed 19 of 30 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown. Those were by no means staggering numbers, but compare favorably to what LSU quarterbacks have produced during the previous two seasons.Danny understands what he is supposed to do, Miles said Monday. When you go on the road, you connect with your teammates and you connect with your coaches. You make sure you communicate with your teammates. Do your job and focus on things on the field.Etling, a junior who transferred from Purdue, said his action with the Boilermakers as a freshman and sophomore have given him at least a taste of the environment hell have to contend with at Auburn (1-2, 0-1).I have started road games in the Big Ten and that will help me this week, Etling said, noting that Penn State was the toughest place for him to play. I was maybe a little nervous at Purdue. Now, I understand what it takes to win the game. Playing on the road is something I take seriously. But, that is not going to be the deciding factor. I have gotten some good experience. I have some good coaches who can teach me some stuff.Etling first replaced season-opening starter Brandon Harris in the third series of LSUs second game, a victory over Jacksonville State. LSU (2-1, 1-0 SEC) has won both games in which Etling has played, but has stalled a bit in the second half of both games, scoring just one TD after halftime in each.ddddddddddddDanny does a great job moving the ball around, Miles said. He is doing the things we ask him to do. Should this offense come to play for 60 minutes, wed be happy about it.Meanwhile, LSUs offensive line has resembled a game of musical chairs, with eight total linemen seeing action during this weekends victory over Mississippi State because of a spate of apparently minor injuries.Right tackle Toby Weathersby was the one starter who was unavailable at the end of the game with the Bulldogs. Backup Maea Teuhema, who took snaps at both right guard and right tackle, ended the game in Weathersbys spot.We had guys who caught cramps, get injured and got nicks, Miles said. We had seven different combinations.Miles credited offensive line coach Jeff Grimes for doing a great job cross-training the players he oversees to handle multiple spots along the line. They allowed no sacks. Thank goodness (Grimes) works these through in practice, Miles said. All of these combinations had been seen by coach Grimes. There is some camaraderie on that line. The players are committed to each other. No one is rigid about staying in one place. That makes it more comfortable for these guys to move to other spots. This group thinks team first.Center Ethan Pocic was the only starting offensive lineman who did not leave the game because of an injury. Pocic had to switch positions due to the injuries as he played left tackle for two fourth-quarter possessions. It was a rough time Saturday because you hate to see guys going down. But, were used to it -- lining up with different guys, said guard Will Clapp, who was among the lineman that went down, but returned. We have to learn more than our position. Coach Grimes trains us to be big picture. He wants us to learn the whole line, the whole offense.---Online: AP College Football: http://collegefootball.ap.org/ ' ' '
