In other moves Friday, both involving catchers, David Ross was activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list and Ryan Lavarnway was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. Victorino went on the list retroactive to May 21 with a strained left hamstring. Middlebrooks has a low back strain and left Thursday nights 12-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians after the fourth inning. Victorino is hitting .283 in 34 games. Middlebrooks is batting .201 in 46 games. Aceves and Iglesias began the season with Boston before going to Pawtucket. In five major-league games, Aceves was 1-1 with an 8.66 ERA.
