When Megan Walker thinks of her next school, the first word that comes to mind is championships. The No. 1 prospect in the nation for three years running announced Thursday that she is signing a national letter of intent to Connecticut, the national champion for four years running. Its a winning program, she said. Ill be able to accomplish all my dreams.A 6-foot-1 shooting guard, Walker has collected trophies and broken records all over the globe during her time in high school. Shes the reigning Gatorade player of the year in Virginia. She is a two-time state champion at Monacan (Richmond, Virginia). She is the USA Basketball national 3x3 champion. And she won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the FIBA Americas U18 championship.Expect her to make an immediate mark at the college level, too. Walker has that special knack for making good things happen when shes on the court. It helps, of course, that she has a feathery touch on her jump shot, a reliable delivery off the dribble and the ability to find a teammate in a jam. She has the skill to sink jumpers from beyond the arc and the size to post up her defender.Megan Walker is one of the most physically gifted basketball players Ive ever seen, Monacan coach Larry Starr said. Once she started being ranked so high, she did not get complacent but continued to work hard to maintain that ranking. Its important to Megan to show people she isnt satisfied where she is, but she always strives for improvement.Walker chose Connecticut over Notre Dame and Texas. The decision didnt come easily. Walker said a lot of factors led her to Storrs -- the campus (she has already visited a handful of times), the players (shes especially excited to play alongside Kia Nurse and Gabby Williams), the coaches and the pipeline to success after college. Walker, who plans to major in either business or criminology, said shes excited to play for Geno Auriemma. He develops the best players, said Walker, who averaged 21.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 1.9 assists as a junior at Monacan. Im hoping to learn a lot from him.Walker joins a class at Connecticut that includes three other top-40 recruits: Mikayla Coombs, a 5-10 guard ranked 14th in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100; Lexi Gordon, a 5-11 wing ranked 29th; and Andra Espinoza-Hunter, a 5-10 wing ranked 37th.With the addition of Walker, the UConn class is expected to be ranked No. 1 when the final class rankings are released next week. The Huskies class was ranked third -- behind Louisville and Stanford -- coming into the early signing period. It would be the first time since 2012 that the No. 1 class resides in Connecticut. That 2012 group featured a few names you may be familiar with: Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck.Walker is the fourth No. 1 prospect in the past seven years to choose UConn. She joins Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (2011), Stewart (2012) and Katie Lou Samuelson (2015). Walker will be greeted by an elite group of backcourt players when she arrives in Storrs. UConn is expected to feature Samuelson, Nurse, Williams and Crystal Dangerfield on the perimeter when Walker arrives next fall. Were just excited about what the possibilities are for her, said dad Keith Walker. Megan hopes to carry on the winning tradition. Its been a long process. Weve enjoyed it. Now its time now to move on to the next chapter. But first, Megan Walker has her heart set on winning another state title at Monacan. Were two-time state champs, she said. Were trying to make that three-time state champs. It all goes back to the championships. Phil Esposito Jersey . Indias Shiv Chowrasia, who has finished runner-up in this tournament twice, was in second place after a 66. SPIELBERG, Austria -- Lewis Hamilton took pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix in a thrilling wet/dry session that produced an unusual grid for Sundays race.Nico Rosberg set the second fastest time on the drying track, but will be shuffled down the order to seventh once his five-place grid penalty for a gearbox change is factored in. That will promote Force Indias Nico Hulkenberg to the front row of the grid and see Jenson Button start third as Sebastian Vettel is also due a five-place grid drop after setting the fourth fastest time. Kimi Raikkonen will therefore start fourth ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in fifth and Valtteri Bottas in sixth. Max Verstappen will move up one place to eighth, while Felipe Massa remains in tenth place behind Vettel. However, Hulkenberg is under investigation for setting his fastest Q1 time under yellow flags, meaning another penalty could change the face of the grid once again.Q3 started wet and all the drivers ventured out on intermediate tyres. However, the drying conditions saw lap times fall by over 10 seconds over the course of the 12 minute session, with Hamilton ultimately coming out on top with his final run on ultra-softs. Hulkenberg was the first driver to switch to slick tyres as the track dried and that offered an advantage as he had three attempts at a quick lap on ultra-softs compared to the two laps of the rest of the top ten.To add to the mix on Sunday, the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers will start the race on super-soft tyres after setting their best Q2 times on that compound. The rest of the drivers will start on ultra-softs.Esteban Gutierrez just missed out on a place in Q3 by 0.006s and will line up 11th on the grid ahead of Pascal Wehrleein, who scored a career-best grid position in 12th.dddddddddddd Romain Grosjean will start 13th ahead of Fernando Alonso in 14th, who appeared to get caught out by the incoming rain at the end of Q2. Carlos Sainz suffered an engine failure at the end of Q1, meaning he was unable to set a time in Q2, leaving him 15th on the grid.Following Rosbergs suspension failure in final practice, Sergio Perez and Daniil Kvyat suffered similar problems in Q1. The Force Indias right rear suspension broke first, but Perez was able to nurse the car back to the pits. However, with the team unable to fix the car quickly, he was unable to contest Q2 and will start 16th on the grid.Kvyats incident was far more dramatic and resulted in the session being postponed for 16 minutes. The Toro Rossos suspension broke as Kvyat strayed on to the yellow kerbs on the outside of the track, sending extreme vibrations through the rear of the car. The right-rear suspension gave way, effectively steering the car from the rear towards the inside of the track and towards the tyre barrier that divides the track from the pit lane. The Russian was lucky that it was only the front of the car that took the blow, and the rest of the wreckage, in which he was sat, continued off towards the run off area for the final turn. Kvyat was able to walk away from the accident but his qualifying session was over, leaving him 20th overall. The Renaults of Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer also dropped out in the session along with Manors Rio Haryanto and the two Saubers, which will make up the back row of the grid.
